The Jas Award and The Green Team
On 1st January 2025, The Green Team took over the operation and management of The JAS Award, previously owned by Awards Plus.
The Join in Award Scheme, JAS, is an entry-level award for anyone who might enjoy and benefit from using it.
JAS is a self-guided way to encourage, capture and celebrate personal achievement.
Designed as a ‘first award’ for children and young people, JAS also works well with older pupils with support needs and with adults who have learning difficulties.
The Join in Award Scheme can be used in schools, outdoor centres, home education, as well as residential, family and youth work settings. Its freedom and flexibility to choose activities encourages a wide range of learning experiences.
As an organisation which runs impactful programmes of outdoor nature-based activities for young people, The Green Team have utilised the JAS Award framework ourselves for many years in our work with schools in Edinburgh and the Lothians. As a result, the team understand the framework, its ethos and benefits and are well-placed to take on the stewardship of this Award.
For most existing users of the Award, the change should is seamless although a new contact email, admin@jasaward.org.uk and JAS Award website address dedicated to the Award have been created.
