About the JAS Award
The JAS Award is easy to use, either online or with an offline booklet.
JAS is designed to be accessible, flexible and easy to integrate with school, home education and extra-curricular activities. Activities can take place at any combination of school, home, outdoor centre, community setting based, or with support partners.
The JAS Award has 3 levels – White | Green | Gold
Each level has 4 sections which can run at the same time or one after the other, in any order:
· My Interests - a new hobby, interest or skill
· Get Active Stay Active - a sport or physical activity
· Me and My World - a community or nature-based project
· Adventure - outdoor activity
Completing the sections builds confidence, encourages teamwork and develops skills, encouraging participants to be more active and involved in their local community. The award helps with transitions from Primary to Secondary school, provides a platform for starting vocational learning and act as a next step towards other initiatives, awards and certificates.
The JAS Participant Booklet guides you and your participant every step of the way including sections on planning, preparing and recording. There are also lots of ideas to help inspire you for each section.
JAS Certificates and optional pin badges are awarded for each level completed.
The JAS Award costs just £5 and is easy to use, either online or with an offline booklet
Previous Junior Award Scheme for Schools/JASS booklets and some certificates are currently available at £3/copy. Please contact us directly to check availability and place an order. admin@jasaward.org.uk
JAS Award background
The Join in Award Scheme evolved from the Junior Award Scheme for Schools (known as JASS) in 2024. The Green Team assumed responsibility for the award in 2025.
The award was created by Awards Plus (previously Friends of the Award) to encourage youth awards participation. It is a stand-alone award, as well as an ideal foundation for progressing to other awards.
All proceeds from sales of the JAS Award go towards the work of The Green Team, supporting young people’s connection with nature.
